Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Your home. Your support. Your way.

At Tier 1 Care, we believe everyone deserves a safe, comfortable, and supportive place to call home. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded service that provides ongoing, in-home support tailored to your individual needs. Whether you live alone or with others, we’re here to help you build independence and enjoy everyday life—your way.

SIL includes assistance with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication, and more. Support is available 24/7, depending on your needs, and can be shared with housemates or delivered in your own home.

Note: SIL does not cover rent or housing costs. If you require funding for high-support housing, this would fall under Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), which is assessed separately.

How Tier 1 Care Can Support You

Whether you're searching for a new home or already have a place to live, we’ll work with you to build a support plan that’s just right for you. Our team will:

  • Help you develop daily living skills
  • Provide personal care like showering, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist with cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
  • Support you in attending appointments and taking medication
  • Encourage social interaction, hobbies, and community involvement
  • Help build confidence in using public transport and getting around

Your support plan is designed around you—flexible, responsive, and empowering.

Be Involved in Your Home Life

At Tier 1 Care, your voice matters. We encourage all participants to be actively involved in household decisions, routines, and shared responsibilities. Whether it's weekly planning meetings or casual check-ins with your housemates, we support your right to be heard and your choices respected.

Finding the Right Home and Housemates

If you're looking for a home, we can assist in finding the perfect place that suits your lifestyle and support needs. We’ll also work closely with you to match you with housemates who share similar interests and values.

Before moving in, we arrange informal meet-and-greets so you can get to know your future housemates and the support team. That way, you feel comfortable, confident, and at home from day one. And if things aren’t quite the right fit, we’ll help you explore other options until they are.

Already Have a Home? No Problem.

If you're already living independently or with family and need in-home support, we can provide everything from daily personal care to drop-in support and overnight assistance. Our services are flexible and completely tailored to you.

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

We can also help participants with very high support needs access Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) if required. SDA funding is separate from SIL and provides housing designed to cater to complex care requirements.

NDIS Support Categories

SIL is funded under the Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life category in your NDIS plan. While it covers the cost of in-home support, it does not include rent, utilities, transport, food, or other daily expenses.

We bill according to the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which are updated annually.
